Windows CMD Commands : arp

arp Command 

ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) is a protocol which is used to discover the link layer address layer i.e MAC Address or physical machine address with associated of Internet Layer Address .

arp is a Command Prompt command used to check the arp table in windows OS . It is used to display or change the entry ARP Cache in Windows .

The arp command help to display or change the entry ARP Cache in Windows  System.

Example for use of arp Command :-

  • arp -a

The command (arp -a) helps to displays current ARP entries by interrogating the current protocol data.

Suppose you have required to check the ARP entry in your system , Then follow the below steps :

  • Go to CMD (Command Prompt) 
  • Enter the command "arp -a "

C:\Users>arp -a

  • It will display the arp table available in windows system

arp -v

The command (arp -v) helps to displays current ARP entries in verbose mode. All invalid entries and entries on the loop-back interface will be shown.

  • Go to CMD (Command Prompt) 
  • Enter the command "arp -v "

C:\Users>arp -v

  • It will display current ARP entries in verbose mode.
